78ers Football Team Defeats South Christian 22-6
Kent City relied heavily on its physical defense against a pass-heavy South Christian squad to finish the season unbeaten. The Eagles used two scores by Bronson Mathieu on the ground to get out to a 16-0 start. Kent City scored one more time before the end of the 1st half heading to the locker room with a 22-0 lead. In the second half Kent City moved the ball up and down the field but was not able to cross the goal line. The Eagles gave up a late TD to the Sailors but the win was never in doubt. Great job Eagles -- we need to carry this momentum into a productive off-season. http://kentcityfootball.weebly.com/78ers-football.html

Youth Football Camp -- A Valuable Learning Experience
Our second day of the Youth Football Camp was just as productive as the first with the added plus of playing some Eagle Force Football to finish the day. Over 40 players ranging in age from 8-13 participated in stations aimed at teaching fundamental techniques necessary to be a successful Kent City Eagle Football Player. If you only attended day one of camp, Coach Heeringa will have your t-shirt for you at the beginning of the Rocket Football Season on August 20. On the other hand, if Saturday was your first day at camp, your t-shirt will be ordered and we will deliver them to you when they come in. We would like to thank Fred and Becky Heeringa for all of their hard work they have poured into the Kent City Football Program -- especially the two days of camp. Take a minute to check out the pictures from camp on under our Youth Football tab or by clicking on the following link:

Strong Man Results Are In!
Who is the strongest Kent City Eagle? Last night's Strong Man Competition was a huge success. Over 30 athletes participated in six events designed to test each player's strength: Truck Push, Mental Toughness, Farmer's Walk, Strong Man Medley, Rock Toss, and Tractor Tire Flip. As it was the final competition of the summer, the Strong Man Competition often determines the Summer Championship and who will be enjoying a steak dinner. Eagle Pride 24 Hour Overnight Camp a Success!
Once again, our Eagle Pride 24 Hour Overnight Camp was a great success! Overall 37 student-athletes in grades 9-12 attended camp and laid a solid foundation for the 2012 season. Running a camp is not an easy task and takes the help and generosity of countless individuals to pull it off. We are especially grateful to all those who helped us with our meals: Mr. and Mrs. Phillips, Mrs. Krueger, Mrs. Ignasiak, Mr. and Mrs. Kruithoff, Mrs. Vogel, and the Kent City Cafeteria Staff. We would also like to thank Mrs. Larson and the Kent City Sports Boosters for all of your help with meals and snacks for the players. Your help is definitely appreciated -- Thank You All!!! We hope the picture is a reminder of the fun everyone had at the 2012 camp, especially playing scatter-ball under the lights!
